Mold Inspection Protocol Many of my clients mention that when they are at home they feel bad but once they leave the home they feel better and returning home they feel bad again. This also holds true for people going to work once they get to work they feel bad then leave the office and feel better. I will do a full assessment of the home or office looking for any signs of indoor air contaminants or mold spores. Next I do air sampling by using an air pump that literally pulls in the air and traps these contaminants. I then take these spore trap samples to a microbiologist for testing and checking for over twenty different forms of mold and allergens. I will then forward the test results to you via email and review the findings with you and a course of remediation or clean up if needed. If found early enough cleaning and disinfecting is easy with most homeowners able to do this themselves. The tricky thing about indoor air quality testing is the things we do not see in the air that can hurt us. Stachybotrys toxic mold or as it is called black mold of course will leave signs of it's presence but many more molds just stay in the air. EIFS Dryvit Inspection Synthetic stucco was first introduced in the United States in the late 1960's, and were first used on commercial buildings, and later on homes. EIFS typically consist of the following components: - water-resistive barrier (WRB) that covers the substrate - drainage plane between the WRB and the insulation board that is most commonly achieved with vertical ribbons of adhesive applied over the WRB - insulation board typically made of expanded polystyrene (EPS) which is secured with an adhesive or mechanically to the substrate - glass-fiber reinforcing mesh embedded in the base coat - water-resistant base coat that is applied on top of the insulation to serve as a weather barrier - finish coat that typically uses colorfast and crack resistant acrylic copolymer technology. EIFS today are one of the most tested and well researched claddings in the construction industry. Research, conducted by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and supported by the Department of Energy, has validated that EIFS are the "best performing cladding" in relation to thermal and moisture control when compared to brick, stucco, and cementitious fiberboard siding. In addition EIFS is in full compliance with modern building codes which emphasize energy conservation through the use of CI (continuous insulation) and a continuous air barrier. Both these components are built into today's EIFS products to provide maximum energy savings, and reduced environmental impact over the life of the structure. Along with these functional advantages come virtually unlimited color, texture, and decorative choices to enhance curb appeal and enjoyment of almost any home or structure. HARDCOAT STUCCO Hardcoat stucco installation over wood: -Wood wall sheathing -Moisture barrier -Metal lath -Scratch coat -Brown coat -Color coat Hardcoat stucco installation over masonry: -The scratch coat is installed directly on masonry. Brown and color coat are then applied. Around windows: - casing is installed leaving a ¼” gap between casing and window; - scratch and brown coats stop at casing; - gap is filled with backer rod and then caulked. - color coat is installed to window (covering casing and caulk line). Even if you do not use my experience or service be sure whomever you hire is a independent third party inspector with no vested interest in repairs.
