My focus as a psychiatrist is to apply how our brains interact with our environment to affect our spiritual, social, and functional well-being. I view the biology and psychology behind mental illness as intrinsically connected, and thus psychiatric treatment may involve psychotherapy, medications, or both. My role as your physician is to 1) listen to your experience to understand you, your goals, and your concerns, 2) help you understand the biology and psychology behind your symptoms, and 3) develop an individualized medical plan to meet your specific goals. I completed my residency in psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina and an additional fellowship in forensic psychiatry at Emory University.
