The Salt Table, a totally new concept store in Savannah, recently opened its doors and features free tasting samples of hundreds of different salts, seasonings, sugars, teas, dips, blends, Amish popcorn, and even local honey. All of these items are packaged under the unique Salt Table brand that is available only at this store. All are packaged on site. “In most stores, customers cannot smell or taste the items. At The Salt Table, we wanted our customers to enjoy the flavors before they make a purchase. What a novel idea!” says Carol Sellers, co-founder. “In fact, we encourage tasting, and provide samples of all our products throughout the store.” “We are not a franchise. The idea originated about three years ago, when Carol and I dined at a restaurant in Florida,” says Dave Legasse, co-founder. “That restaurant, SALT, offered multiple choices of flavored salts with each serving. We fell in love with salt! After that, we developed a few initial seasonings using flavored salts and other spices which we presented to our friends and family as gifts. They loved them and encouraged us to make them available to the public!”
