General Description

Sushi Sasabune was est. in 1993 with the opening of the L.A. based restaurant (12400 Wilshire Blvd.). Chef/Owner Seiji Kumagawa came to open Sushi Sasabune Hawaii in 1997 after many years of training under his master, Nobie Kusuhara (Chef/Owner Sushi Sasabune L.A.). Subsequently, chef Nobie took another apprentice after chef Seiji came to Hawaii, his new apprentice has recently opened (Nov. 06) his own restaurant in New York (410 E. 73rd St.). At this restaurant, we specialize in traditional Edo-Mae style sushi, that is basically all we serve. We do not serve any noodles, tempura or teriyaki type dishes. Also the Sushi we serve is more traditional style, so we also don't serve any California rolls, spicy tuna rolls or any of that kind of specialty rolls. That said, if someone is a vegetarian or if they do not eat raw fish and or seafood, we do not recommend this restaurant.
