Awad's medical career began as a research associate in a tumor biology lab at Harvard University Medical School where he published articles in cancer research. After earning his Doctoral degree from Midwestern University, Loyola University Medical Center recruited him for his residency training. There, “Dr. Mike”, trained under some of the nation’s leading experts in the comprehensive care of women, most notably his father. His specialties include robotic and laparoscopic surgery and complex obstetrical conditions. Dr. Mike holds an academic appointment at Loyola as a Clinical Instructor and continues to participate in the education of residents and medical students.
