He was very sick when admitted, but recovered well and went home. Doctor and patient crossed paths again in the weeks after the hospitalization. “He told me, ‘I’m standing on my two feet because of you!’ That meant a lot to me.” Dr. Surya’s role models include her mother, also a doctor, from whom she inherited her strong work ethic - and her grandmother - whose passion, compassion and spirituality taught her how to be a warm and kind person. “Everyone has a story to tell.
