From his roots in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Dr. Joel D. Silverberg came to LSU in Baton Rouge to complete his undergraduate studies in 1981 and earned his M.D. in 1985 from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. Temporarily leaving his home state, Dr. Silverberg performed his medical residency in Internal Medicine through the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completing his program in 1988. He then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism through the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in 1992 before joining The Baton Rouge Clinic.Dr. Silverberg is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism through the American Board of Internal Medicine. He has served on the Board of Directors at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He holds his medical license from the state of Louisiana.Dr. Silverberg and his wife have four children and make Baton Rouge their home.
