When you first walk through the door at Tyre Trak Automotive's beautiful facility in downtown Springfield Massachusetts, chances are pretty good this will be the person you'll see. He's Tim Andrew, president and C.E.O. of the corporation. If it seems to you as though Tim is always there, that's because he is. Tim is a lifelong resident of western Massachusetts. When the war called in 1968, he enlisted for a three year tour in the Army and spent a year in beautiful South Vietnam, a year in Germany, and 12 months discovering the diversity of a variety of American cities. When he came back, he took a job with Uniroyal at their factory in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where he learned how to make tires. A lifelong love affair with the tire industry began that continues to this day. Uniroyal quickly recognized his uncanny interpersonal skills and placed him in their sales department in Philadelphia, giving him promotions to Pittsburgh, PA (where his son, and company vice president, Harley Andrew, was born), Faimont, West VA, and finally to the Boston suburb of Franklin, MA. It was only a matter of time before this wide variety of automotive experience was put to it's final use, and Tyre Trak was founded by Tim in Hartford, CT in April, 1984. After 4 moves, Tyre Trak settled in it's current location in February of 1991, and plans to stay there for a long, long time to come, helping to revitalize Springfield's once vibrant downtown. In the 20 plus years of operation, the business has evolved from a 100% wholesale tire operation to it's current mix, which continues it's wholesale beginnings while now providing full service retail automotive service. While the emphasis evolved to using A.S.E. certified technicians in solving the ever more complex vehicle emission repairs as mandated by both the state and federal governments, Tyre Trak's trucks continue to run up and down the I-91 corridor from Hartford to Greenfield and as far east as Worcester, providing un compromised service to hundreds of independent garages for the American made Cooper tires that are featured. This dual pronged marketing approach benefits the western Massachusetts driver in many ways. Because we continue to wholesale tires, we generate a buying power second to none, allowing us to sell the best quality tires at the lowest possible prices. And our dedication to the automotive repair market allows us to provide the very specialized repairs today's highly sophisticated cars and trucks not only require, but deserve.
