General Description

Dr. Steven Caruso received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil/structural engineering from Cooper Union in New York City. Dr. Caruso received his medical degree from New York Medical College and then completed an orthopaedics residency at SUNY Downstate Health Science University in Brooklyn, New York. This was followed by an orthopedic trauma and reconstruction fellowship at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Caruso’s orthopaedic interests include non-unions and malunions, pelvic and acetabulum fractures, and all complex fractures, including periarticular fractures. He has a particular interest in bone health and prevention of fragility fractures. Dr. Caruso has authored many peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters, most in the field of orthopaedic biomechanics. He believes that "form equals function" with his surgical goals, which aim to restore the patient's anatomy for better long-term function.
