General Description

Kyle L. McCormick, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction. She is skilled in the operative and nonoperative treatment of hip and knee arthritis and injuries, including minimally invasive total joint arthroplasty, direct anterior hip replacement, robotically assisted total knee replacement, and unicompartmental (partial) knee replacement. She is also skilled at hip and knee replacement after previous surgery, complex primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction, and hip, knee, and femur fractures. A native of New Jersey, Dr. McCormick attended Columbia University for her undergraduate degree. She then received her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where she was awarded the Rosamond Kane Cummins Award for Excellence in Orthopedics and the Donald M. Palatucci Prize for excellence in both academics and the humanities. Dr. McCormick completed her orthopedic surgery residency at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where in her chief year she was awarded The Harrison McLaughlin, M.D. Resident Award for Excellence in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery. She then completed fellowship training in advanced primary and revision hip and knee reconstruction at the New York University Langone Hospital. While at NYU, she received specialized training in robotic-assisted joint replacement and complex reconstruction techniques. Dr. McCormick’s ongoing research interests include ideal treatment for periprosthetic joint infections, quality improvement and patient optimization, and utilization of robotics to improve patient outcomes. She is actively engaged in research, with more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, textbook chapters, editorials, and national and international scientific presentations. Dr. McCormick is also interested in and deeply committed to both quality improvement initiatives and global health, having volunteered her time abroad to advance medical and surgical care in Guatemala. Dr. McCormick is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Ruth Jackson Orthopedic Society, and the Perry Initiative Medical Student Outreach Program. Dr McCormick is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of orthopedic surgeons through involvement in medical student and resident education.
