General Description

Dr. Pack is a Professor of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Chief of the Epilepsy Division, and Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Neurology at Columbia. Upon graduating with her MD from the University of Pennsylvania, she completed residency training in Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. After residency, she trained as a Clinical Fellow in Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at the Columbia Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. In 2000, she joined the faculty at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She received an MPH with a concentration in epidemiology from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in 2010. Her clinical work and research have focused on the care of persons of childbearing potential with epilepsy, including studies among pregnant persons with epilepsy and contraceptive practices in persons of childbearing potential. In addition, she has studied the effects of anti-seizure medications on bone and mineral metabolism. She has authored over 50 original publications and over 40 chapters. In 2012, she received the AAN Neuroendocrine Research Award. Dr. Pack is a former chair of the Professional Advisory Board of the National Epilepsy Foundation and is a current member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York. She is Vice Chair of the AAN Guideline Subcommittee and Chair of the ABPN Epilepsy Board Certification Exam.
