General Description

When I went to college, I was a business major. After several projects involving the business of healthcare in the U.S., I became fascinated by the challenges in the field, both from a patient standpoint and from the standpoint of a provider: Why did we spend so much more money than other industrialized nations, but had fewer positive health outcomes? Why were nearly 20% of Americans uninsured at that time? Why were so many people going into significant medical debt? \n Those questions, coupled with watching family members and friends face what seemed like unjust challenges in the healthcare system, drove me to pursue a career in medicine. I wanted to make things better by doing my part to improve patient access, affordability, experience and, ultimately, health. Family medicine was an easy choice for me, as it allows me to care for people of all demographics and from varied communities, while gaining insight into so many corners of medical care. \n I want to not just listen to my patients, but understand them. I consider a patient's values and goals to guide care decisions and offer information needed to empower them to make the best decisions for their health. My hope is that after each patient interaction, my patient feels heard and we have a good plan of care in place. \n In my current role, I spend much of my time supervising and teaching our many wonderful resident physicians, who I truly believe are the most up-to-date clinicians you can find. While patients might not see me directly, I am partnering with our residents to provide remarkable care within our clinic. \n Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, family and friends. I love to plan and go on trips to explore new places. When staying closer to home, you can find my husband and I catching up on our favorite reality TV shows or doing house projects. Getting outside or being active at least once a day is important for me, especially for a walk, run, HIIT workout, hike or game of tennis.
