Science class always came naturally to me, but that's not the reason I chose medicine. \n One of my grandfathers had a stroke, but no one knew the warning signs or how vital it was to get to the hospital right away. As a result, he had permanent issues with his vision and speech. If I only knew back then what I know now, I could've helped - and possibly prevented the permanent disability he had. \n I never want anyone to feel that powerless. Helping educate patients about their health - and especially about prevention - is part of my mission. \n I'm board-certified in family medicine and think of myself as a less scary Google. I believe in empowering patients with knowledge so they can understand what's going on in their bodies. I try to present patients with options and review with them what each one involves. I strive to give them all the information they need and then help them reach a decision supported by evidence-based medicine. \n At the end of the day, it's the patient's life and the patient's body. They're in charge. But I'm here to help them stay as healthy as possible. I will never recommend something to a patient that I wouldn't do myself or recommend to my family. \n I have a young daughter who is my whole world. My husband and I enjoy taking her and our dog on his nightly walk as a family. I enjoy traveling, learning about different cultures and trying different cuisines. I cherish quiet nights with some Netflix and popcorn and also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes - especially with my daughter (even if she can't help but make a mess right now).
