General Description

After growing up in Atlanta and completing my education and training at Emory University, my wife and I moved to Raleigh in 2005 to join a surgical group practice at Rex Hospital based on the excellent reputation of the group and the hospital. Although I practiced broad‑based general surgery for many years (hernias, appendectomies, etc.), I always found myself happiest caring for cancer patients. Since 2018, the sole focus of my practice has been taking care of patients with breast cancer and related surgical breast conditions. I get tremendous satisfaction from helping patients through what will likely be one of the most difficult times of their lives. I believe that all patients deserve compassion, to have a voice in their care, to have full trust and confidence in their medical team, and to get the best outcomes possible. I take great pride in these goals and work hard every day to accomplish them. I recognize that no one wants to have to see a surgeon, much less a cancer surgeon, and my goal is to make that experience as positive as it can be. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors (walking our dogs, yard work, hiking), traveling, DIY home and auto repairs, attending church and church-related activities, and catching up with our young adult children.
