Founded 1875 by Captain George Billow as The Billow Undertaking Company, Billow is the oldest firm still operating in Summit County, now in its sixth generation. The Fairlawn Cremation Chapel was greater Akron's first funeral home crematory, opened 1984, offering traditional and direct cremation. Billow is accredited by the Green Burial Council, a rare distinction shared only with sister firm Bissler & Sons, and assists veterans with VA benefits filing and military honors.
