Main Street Veterinary Hospital is a full service veterinary clinic in Norman, Oklahoma serving dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, reptiles and other small house pets. We are conveniently located on the west side of Norman near the intersection of Robinson and 36th Avenue. Our motto is “thorough and compassionate care for dogs, cats, and exotics.” Our belief is that good health results when we practice preventive care. We want to give your pet an exam annually when it is young and more frequently as it ages. We’d like to catch problems early when intervention will be most successful. We believe in tailoring vaccines and other preventive care to your pet’s lifestyle, and therefore create the best preventive plan possible. When your pet is sick or injured our priority is your pet’s return to good health, so we will offer you the best care possible. We have the capability for on-site blood analysis, x-rays, urinalysis, and other diagnostics. However offering the best care will occasionally mean referring you to specialists either for primary care or continued in-depth care or surgery. The Oklahoma City area is home to a multitude of veterinary specialists including ophthalmologists, internists, dermatologists, and orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Shafer-Ray received her Veterinary Medical Degree (VMD) in 1994 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. During her training she worked at the Philadelphia Zoo, the Animal Medical Center in the city of New York, and the Veterinary Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Shafer-Ray is married to University of Oklahoma Associate Professor of Physics Neil Shafer-Ray. They have two children, Reed and Cole.
