General Description

I chose to go into medicine because I wanted to be in a field where I could teach people about their bodies and health, help them make more informed decisions and empower them to take a more active role in their well-being. I chose gynecological oncology because I wanted to be in a specialty where I could be a familiar, consistent face for my patients through the long journey of cancer diagnosis and treatment. In this specialty, there are lots of steps involved from the initial diagnosis, through surgery and chemo all the way through to remission. I really find it meaningful to be there for every step of the way through all the highs and the lows. Building that long term meaningful relationship with the patient is important. I want my patients to know that they should expect a compassionate and respectful environment in which they receive comprehensive care emphasizing not only their physical well-being but their emotional and mental as well.
