General Description

The name MiNGO comes from Michael Cronan’s uncle of the same name. Michael has a habit of naming his restaurants after his family, as evidenced by the successful and long running Delphina’s(grandmother), Serratto (Mingo and Delphina’s last name) and Caffe Mingo, Bar Mingo and MiNGO. It seems to work. In 2003 the two Michaels convinced Bob, long time friend of Cronan’s from the 50’s in San Francisco, to form a partnership. In 2004 MiNGO opened. The younger Michael Tocchini learned to run the restaurant under the tutelage of MC and develop his own style and following. It turns out the two Michaels have fairly similar styles, and MiNGO evolved along a parallel vein to Caffe Mingo. Cronan’s genuine and old-style example of a restaurateur have prevailed: generosity, pure and simple foods, wine that speaks of it’s land, creating a family out of the staff, friends out of customers, and, on top of it all, having fun with the whole endeavor.
