General Description

The Grapevine operates a Drop-in Center which is largely a consumer-run organization, it is a community resource and support for those with mental health issues; and those with co-occurring drug & alcohol issues. It aids in recovery through socialization; and offering: a safe place to hang-out and experience fellowship & support with peers who understand. Access to free local telephones Help with transportation to the Drop-in Center; and for shopping trips; Help with moving; Access to showers; Free use of computers; Free coffee served throughout the day; Free meals served frequently; Cable television; Videos & movies; Education & training; Games: Cards; Bingo; Pool tournaments; Raffles; etc. Monthly activities, including parties on all major holidays, picnics, monthly field trips to points of interest & local events;, etc. Grapevine also offers access to Certified Peer Specialists who are like life coaches and can help people achieve their recovery goals, and work out a Wellness Action Plan, to identify their triggers and develop coping plans. Certified Peer Specialists also go into the jails, and help those about to be released, set up supports so they are not destitute when their are released, and quickly return to their former activities, and friends. CPSs help position these people for success and help them find accommodation, transport to parole hearings, help them get jobs, and set up personal support networks. Grapevine has a Homeless Outreach Program that helps the homeless be housed; and recover sand rebuild their lives. Grapevine operates a Warmline service for anyone who is stressed, overwhelmed, depressed, lonely, or just needs someone to listen. Operates 6pm - 9 pm Mon thru Sun.
