Dr. Christian Leal was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. The first in his family to attend college, he earned a full scholarship to Stanford University, receiving the Lyons Award for Public Service. He graduated top of his class from UT Southwestern Medical School, where he helped lead a free clinic and earned teaching and humanism awards.He completed his ophthalmology residency at Dean McGee Eye Institute, ranking in the top 1% nationally, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Emory University, where he was named Fellow of the Year.Dr. Leal specializes in surgical and medical retina, complex diabetic detachments, pediatric retinal diseases, and inflammatory eye disorders. A native Spanish speaker, he is dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care and improving access to vision treatment.He enjoys nature, travel, reading nonfiction, and time with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs.
