Miguel A. Escobar, MD, is a fellowship-trained hematologist with expertise in bleeding and clotting disorders. He’s the director of the Gulf States Hemophilia and Thrombophilia Center — Texas Medical Center. He oversees 1000 patients with bleeding and clotting disorders, and his center participates in most clinical trials for hemophilia, including gene therapy. He’s also a tenured professor of hematology in the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Escobar is a member of the World Federation of Hemophilia Board of Directors and chair of the Scientific and Standardization Subcommittee on FVIII, Factor IX, and Rare Coagulation Disorders for the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
