General Description

Mother Fool's Coffeehouse first opened in the spring of 1994. At that time it was under the ownership of Jean Lister. Jean ran it for a year, creating a very homey and comfortable community space, then decided to move to Minneapolis. She sold the coffeehouse to us, Stephanie Rearick and Jon Hain, in June of 1995. We had met Jean when our old band, Your Mom SRO played at Mother Fool's. We serve coffee from Alterra. All of our coffees are Organic and Fair Trade Certified. Our baked goods -- muffins, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies -- come from East Side Ovens, also in Milwaukee. We chose East Side ovens because they make some of the most delicious treats we've ever had -- and they're all vegan! Our soup and kombucha are both made here in Madison. One of the missions of Mother Fool's is to show people that you can have wonderful treats without using animal products.
